Our mission

Interrupt the moment a student stops understanding.

CorePath is an AI-mentored computer science learning platform that stops students from quietly dropping out of CS by teaching them to think like programmers — not by doing the thinking for them.

The quiet dropout

National CS enrollment follows a familiar arc: strong start, quiet exit. Students begin excited, then somewhere around sophomore-level material — recursion, object-oriented programming, data structures — the difficulty curve steepens and confidence collapses. At that exact moment, most reach for an instant complete answer, copy it in, and move on having learned nothing.

They don't fail out. They stop truly understanding, and eventually stop caring. Every feature on this platform is designed around a single rule: help the student get unstuck without ever removing the struggle that builds real skill.

What the research says

  • Productive struggle — effort spent working through difficulty before receiving help produces deeper, longer-lasting learning than immediate instruction.
  • Self-explanation — putting a fix into your own words (our Reflection Log) is one of the most reliable metacognitive techniques for retention.
  • Spaced repetition — resurfacing a struggled concept at increasing intervals (our Concept Vault) turns "got through it once" into "actually kept it."
"Counselor quote placeholder — a short statement from a school counselor on the pattern they see in CS students and why a guided, not given approach matters."

How the path works

Pick a track, take a five-question placement, and start at the right node. Each lesson is a checkpoint. Nodes fill green when you pass, and spark gold when you pass with little or no help.

Frequently asked questions

Will Saturn ever just give me the answer?

No. Saturn asks guiding questions, then points to a concept, then describes the issue in plain English. You always write the fix yourself.

Is CorePath free?

Yes. CorePath is a student-built project and free for students and educators.

Do I need to know how to code already?

No. Start with Foundations — five click-and-observe modules with no typing — then take a short placement quiz.

Which languages can I learn?

Scratch, Python, JavaScript, Java (AP CS A), C++, and a no-code How AI Works track.

Why does Saturn sometimes ask me to wait?

There is a short cooldown between messages and a daily limit, so you spend more time thinking than asking.

Can my teacher see my individual work?

No. The educator dashboard only shows anonymized, class-level trends.

Can I retake the placement quiz?

Anytime, from Settings. It's a starting point, not a verdict.
